SHAGGY - IT WASNT ME

It Wasn’t Me

1. Who are the artists, producer and director behind it?

Artist- Shaggy featuring Rikrok

Producer- Shaun Pizzonia

Director- Stephen Scott

2. What's the record label?

Record Label- MCA

3. Who are the target audience?

The target audience are RnB lovers as that is the genre but
would also be used at the club’s as it has a good beat which people would dance
to.

4. Is there a narrative? If so, what’s the story?

It starts out with Rikrok running to Shaggy's mansion to
explain to him what has just happened. Rikrok tells him that he cheated on his
girlfriend and got caught. The video then cuts into a flashback to earlier that
day. Rikrok has been caught sleeping with another woman, and his girlfriend is
outside the apartment when two women pull up next to her on their motorcycle. He
then sneaks out the window, takes the motorcycle of one of his girlfriend’s accomplices
and leaves. The women chase after him. From his mansion, Shaggy, using his
futuristic technology, tracks down where Rikrok is going and prepares an escape
for him. Rikrok then gets on a bridge over the highway when the accomplice rode
on the bridge in front of him. Rikrok is then trapped but a lorry drives by,
and Shaggy leaves Rikrok a text message telling him to look behind and he notices
the truck and jumps off the side of overhead and lands on the truck. He is then
dropped off at Shaggy's mansion, showing the same scene from the start of the
video.

5. Describe some of the cinematography; including camera
work, editing, filters & special effects.

There are a wide range of camera shots used like mid shot,
establishing shot, close up, long shot including movements of panning and
zooming. There also special effects as shaggy has technology which finds where
he is so the shot goes onto the equipment which is green.

6. Describe the mis-en-scene- costume, lighting, make-up,
props, acting.

The costumes are very simple and causal and there are many
props including futuristic technology to track and help the man also with cars
and motorbikes. The acting is simple but effective as it’s mainly the man
speaking to Shaggy but there are girls in the background acting as Shaggy’s servants.

7. What make it successful?

It is a story which many men could relate to which adds a bit
of humour to the video and the man cheated on his girlfriend and seeks help
from a friend.
